瑞銑《十大愿王12》心得报告

Courage to change is still a challenge to me.  I still harbor a fear of how I’m being perceived if I practice the bowing in front of my others.  I have not been sincere in saying I want to change for better as I’ve still not been able to practice wholeheartedly.

I’m still refusing to let go many of my current daily activities.  But I’m slowly letting go some activities which I’m finding too exhausting and forcing on me.  I hope 1 day, I’ll be to change all my bad habits into good Dharma by constant practicing.

Too much thinking do not help yourself. Set the aim and just do it!

瑞銑 《十大愿王13》心得报告

Acceptance is Key so practice without asking. Initially I thought I’ve accepted the benefits of tea sessions teachings but I’m still not able to practice the 108 bows daily.  I’ve given myself many reasons of not been able to achieve the daily bowing practice.  I tend to procrastinate and later I’ve forgotten about the practices till I attend the tea sessions.

Though I ask and understand why to practice the bowing, however, when another more interesting event happens, I’ll give myself a reason to postpone. The practice has to be done daily till a habit is form so that it’s a habit to have Dharma in mind in whatever we do.

Do the 108 bows to practise “just do it” mind. What are you doing right now? Just bow, just eat, just do it!

瑞銑《十大愿王11》心得报告

People like to make their own judgements and praise self. However, I now try to make less negative judgements on others and give the benefit of doubt on those whom I’ve earlier disagree with.  With this, I find myself feeling less stress and less irritated on an  unpleasant experience.  My expectations are lower and I can focus on how to improve on the issue rather than find fault.

That is wonderful! When you think of improvement, it means “how can I help?”, it is the bodhisattva action.

瑞銑 《十大愿王10》心得报告

One of the purpose of practicing Dharma is to learn to have a different outcome. I realise I am very stubborn to practice the chanting or bowing.  I may have the understanding but I’m just not able to bring myself to diligently practice.  There’s always some other day to day events that is overtaking my plans at the very moment that I want to revise the Dharma.

After attending the tea sessions and reflecting of my habits of procrastinating the Dharma practice, I found that maybe I am not allowing myself ‘Me’ time.

Only try, try, try to practise again, you can breakthrough “I, my, me” anytime!

瑞銑《十大愿王14》心得报告

We cannot live alone and there must be sharing of love and compassion among all.  By attending the tea sessions, I’ve managed to make new friends and share our Dharma thoughts.   The practice of listening to others’ opinions enable me to better understand them before I judge wrongly.  By lowering my expectations, my stress level is maintained and subsequently reduce my temper outburst.  Without losing my temper often, my closed ones feel happier and much love.

Once we're willing to listen, we already put down our judgement. You've already experienced it.

瑞銑《十大愿王09》心得报告

Repentance, I’ve always thought that it’s related to confessions of our wrongs.  But now I understand it’s to clear our mind.  Many times, I find myself in the wrong and thinking of doing dana to lessen my guilt.  But I didn’t realise that practicing the 108 bows are actually IT.  Sometimes, when I realise that I’m in the wrong, it’s too late for me to apologize to the other person.  It’s heavy to carry the guilt around me.  I hope by doing the bows now, it’ll help to lessen my worries and clear my mind.

With your sincere repentance, bowing can help to put down “I, mine, me”, it is definite to have change in your life!

瑞銑《十大愿王08》心得报告

There’s no shortcut to Dharma. One has to practice with sincerity and full heartedly. My ego is the hardest to overcome. Sometimes, although I’m aware of my mistakes and wrong but I’m too egoistic to admit especially within own family members.  I find that if I allow myself to let go of my expectations especially of my children, I’m able to understand and hear more of their explanations.  After hearing from them, I’m actually learning from them.  They will also argue less with us and agree with our requests which they may not agree earlier. This will indeed lessen the emotional pain that we have between us.

You are already aware & try to understand the children. Just continue!

瑞銑《十大愿王07》心得报告

Dharma and material offerings are interrelated.  Knowing this gives me more happiness and meaning when I do offerings.

It’s actually quite tricky, if I select the best, I would be leaving the not so good to others or I may have to compete for the best.  However, if I ask myself the Dharma values and if I have offer without worries or calculative habits, I feel happier. In reminding myself always of the Dharma, I find myself more careful in offering my comments to others.  I will check myself if I have mention anything that’s not beneficial to others. It’s difficult to correct myself on the spot but I’m still trying.

Good try! Even calculative habit will help you in practice to be sincere in all deeds.

瑞銑《十大愿王06》心得报告

This video mentioned about offerings.  I used to have the thoughts that an offering is to seek for blessings.  I never thought of the 7 Dharma questions of offerings.  These 7 Dharma questions really check our sincerity.  Whenever I do an offering, I’ll now think of how best I can make the offering and the benefit of it that’ll bring happiness to others.

For eg, during the previous Wesak Day celebration, I volunteered to encourage people offer flowers to Buddha. The bouquet of flowers was arranged following the Dharma flag colours  We can explain by offering flowers, they are also reminded the Dharma values.  I find it more meaningful in volunteering and when I do offerings to Buddha or others with the Dharma values in mind.

Yes, we also can extend the Dharma values in our career & family!

瑞銑《十大愿王05》心得报告

Yes, I do have a calculative mind that causes selfishness and greed in oneself.  I calculate to achieve the best in everything but actually I’ve caused loss and anger to others.  I thought I’m getting the best for my family or myself at the expense of others but I may be actually inviting disharmony to my family or myself.

Harmony is a key word that I’ve picked up from these sessions.  If my actions are calculative, I should bring it back to this moment and not to continue it.  I must think of if my actions are bringing harmony to all.  I will keep this thought with me in most of my actions and hopefully I can break this calculative habit of mine.

Cultivate "how can i help you?" is a way of offering to cut off selfishness.

瑞銑《十大愿王04》心得报告

I’ve not been submitting my reports.  Initially, I don’t understand the video on Mandarin and felt disheartened plus discouraged to continue with the tea sessions.  However, I listened to the videos again.  There were messages informing to continue and persevere to practice what we believe is right without understanding too much.

I find the tea sessions actually provided me a venue for myself to reflect on my bad habits and be aware of them.  When I’m aware, I’ll at least inform myself not to repeat them.  I’ll not be able to break my bad habits at the first awareness but I hope through constant reminders to myself, I can overcome them one day.

I’m very thankful and grateful to our facilitator who spends the extra time and effort to translate the video for my better understandings.

To be aware is already good! How do you ensure constantly reminding yourself to cut off the bad habit?

瑞銑《十大愿王03》心得报告

From this video i learned that whenever we are asked to practice Dharma teachings, we should just do it immediately without thinking much.  However, i find it is achievable only if we have the basic knowledge of Dharma and believe in the teachings of Dharma.

But yet i have done the daily 20 bows without really exploring the benefits however if i procrastinate, I find that I'll continuously skip the daily routine. And when i remember there's a tea session coming up, then only I will plan my catching up.

Initially i thought 108 bows are not achievable but after doing the catching up of 30 in the morning and 30 at night, i believe 108 bows a day is possible.

Therefore, it's logical and practical to say if I believe and told to practise Dharma, i should do it without thinking much. Sadhu (3x)

Good, you aware of your procrastinated thinking. It really helps if you just do it! Keep it up!

瑞銑《十大愿王02》心得报告

From the video that I’ve just watched, my understanding of it is mainly the introduction of PuXian Buddha.  It made me google of PuXian Buddha who is also known as Samantabhadra. She is associated with love, virtue, diligent training and patience.  She is one of the 4 great Bodhisattvas whose qualities make up the Buddha’s Essence – PuXian(great conduct) Kuan Shih Yin (compassion), Manjusri (wisdom) and Ti Tsang (earth treasury)

Images of PuXian show her seated on a white elephant with 6 tusks.  One of her legs crossed and the other hangs down (I didn’t manage to catch the meaning here). It’s common to see Samantabhadra holding a lotus, wish-fulfilling jewel or a scroll bearing his sutra.  PuXian is well known of her limitless offerings to the Buddhas as well as her 10 great Vows which are directed towards benefiting sentient beings. The 10 great vows origin from Hua Yanjing

She also teaches that wisdom is only present if it benefits everyone. If we have the energy and determination, there’s an outcome to all issues. We should practice the teachings of PuXian and believe it’ll lead us towards Buddhahood.

There is also a mention of the 4 deep heart convictions.  However, I did not manage to catch the meanings but only these words.
1. Recite scripts / Mind
2. Jingjin Heart
3. Centerin
4. Huixin - Continuous

Every Experience Is A Learning.

“I am willing to use the sage of the sages, and I am deeply convinced that I am always honoured by the company” translated as I am willing to learn the wisdom from the wise one and I am convinced that I am bless by it.

Main points can be kept as our notes. It is important to make one of the teachings become alive daily. Love to hear from your experiences!
